The green drain is a great and cheap technology that is simply pushed into floor drains, gullies and shower drains. The green drain provides a physical silicon barrier between the drain and the outside world and prevents a host of drainage issues such as :

 

• Drainage odour which escapes from drains. This is caused by the water trap drying out or being blown or sucked out by the natural suction and blow back of a drainage system (this is the gargling noise you may hear when someone flushes a toilet)

• Pests that carry diseases which easily escape through a conventional water trap from the drainage system such as cockroaches.

• Aerosol effect which is caused by the blow back in drainage systems and releases gases, bacteria and viruses into the air from the drainage system. Most of the foul odour one smells in a drainage system is caused by bacteria.
